What is National Child Day?

November 20 is National Child Day in Canada. It is also World Children’s Day, championed by UNICEF to mark the date in 1989 when children’s human rights were recognized with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Celebrate National Child Day At The Youth ADVOCACY Summit

On November 20, join UNICEF Canada, youth advocates, partner organizations, and decision-makers for an intergenerational event to hear directly from young people about their ideas and recommendations on Education, Healthcare, Mental Health and Racism and Discrimination. Youth advocates will also launch the 2024 Reimagine Playbook.

Join us and colour your home, school, neighbourhood, workplace and social media blue to raise awareness about the right to a childhood!

What can you do? 

  • Wear blue and use our photobooth props to take and share a photo on social media;
  • Share our social media graphics and video on your accounts to spread the word;
  • Chalk a blue message on the sidewalk;
  • Do a craft with children in your life to teach them about child rights.
