Every year, millions of children die from preventable causes, such as pneumonia, diarrhoea and malnutrition. At its core, UNICEF is reducing child mortality—through education and aid, for mothers and children—by focusing on prevention and the removal of preventable causes.
Thanks to our generous donors, UNICEF is making a difference. Working with countries worldwide, UNICEF has procured more vaccines to children than any other organization. Likewise, UNICEF has played a key role in the eradication of polio and the delivery of vitamins, supplements and anything else that a young mother might require.
On the training side, UNICEF has helped improve health systems worldwide, teaching people how to take care of themselves and their community.
Our Program areas include:
- Immunization, supplementation and polio eradication
- Maternal, newborn and child health
- Community health systems strengthening
- Nutrition and HIV
