Protecting children in emergencies

With donor support, UNICEF prepares, stays and delivers for children caught in humanitarian crises. Thanks to your generosity and compassion, UNICEF is still there for children affected by recent emergencies like the earthquakes in Syria and Türkiye, floods in Libya, and the Israel and Gaza Crisis.


In 2023, donors generously supported children and families in emergencies by:

Baby Eyenga gets the new malaria vaccine

When Marie heard the brand-new malaria vaccine would be available in her district in Cameroon, she made sure her six-month-old child, Eyenga, would be one of the first to get vaccinated. Malaria is the number-one killer of children under age 5 in Cameroon. The new vaccine is a great source of hope for parents in the country. Thirty-five years in the making, it’s the world’s first vaccine developed against a parasitic disease.
