Award-winning Nova Scotia culinary talent comes together for 26th annual event to help world’s children
HALIFAX, February 22, 2018 – The line-up of award-winning Chefs, who will be lending their culinary talents to the 26th annual Chefs for UNICEF Water for Life Gala on Wednesday, April 25 at the Halifax Convention Centre, has been announced and it includes some of Nova Scotia’s best.
Participating Chefs and countries that they will represent include:
“When it comes to great talent coming together for a great cause, it doesn’t get much better than this,” said David Morley, UNICEF Canada President and CEO. “We’re so pleased to be joined by these top chefs, along with the generous people of Nova Scotia to celebrate our 26th annual event in support of the world’s most vulnerable children.”
Executive Chef Shane Robilliard of Fox Harb’r is back for his third year at the event.
“This is the kind of event that chefs like us love to take part in,” said Robilliard. “We get to use our passion and skills to give back to those less fortunate than us. It’s a win-win and I’m honoured to be involved.”
In addition to the culinary experience, guests will hear from UNICEF Canada Ambassador, Solange Tuyishime. Born in Kigali, Rwanda and having fled the genocide in 1994, Tuyishime was an early recipient of UNICEF’s life-saving support.
UNICEF works to improve children’s access to clean and safe drinking water around the world. The goal of this year’s Chefs for UNICEF Water for Life Gala is to raise $285,000. Water is an essential right and a vital need. Although significant strides have been made, globally more than 663 million people still lack access to safe drinking water. Through the generous support of donors, UNICEF operates in more than 100 countries improving water supplies and sanitation facilities while promoting safe hygiene.
Tickets for the event are on sale now. Individual tickets are $300 and tables of ten are available for purchase. To order tickets, please call 1-800-819-0889 ext. 8204. For more information, visit: http://bit.ly/chefshalifax
