Officer, Stewardship & Operations
(Hybrid-Remote: Full time Contract ending January 30, 2024)
The Officer, Stewardship & Operations works as an integral member of the high value team to lead the behind-the-scenes development and project management of cultivation, communications and operational activities in support of the Development teams’ engagement objectives, in a manner consistent with UNICEF Canada’s mission and vision.
This role reports to the Deputy Director, Development and will primarily be focused on cultivation activities, project management and operations elements that support the engagement of high value donors, partners and prospects for our Women Unlimited program. The role provides frequent opportunities to facilitate across teams and support the development team in identifying opportunities to cultivate high-value partnerships and relationships and ensuring the proper tracking and analysis in support of growing a meaningful giving circle initiative.
The responsibilities of the position will include:
Donor Cultivation Support (30%)
- Support Relationship Managers with cultivation activities such as donor packages, meeting briefs, proposals and pre-post meeting/event digital and print communications pieces in support of the recruitment of members of Women UN limited.
- Prepare emails and mailings such as renewal reminders, thank you letters, gift agreements.
- Work with team to develop templates, content and collateral for ongoing activities (i.e., general solicitation letters/emails, communicating key dates, celebrating organization moments etc.); Create, review and update content as appropriate.
- Maintain an up-to-date and deep knowledge of UNICEF’s work as well as industry best practices in communications and stewardship, especially as it relates to identifying opportunities to communicate to supporter audiences.
Event Planning and Support (30%)
- With Relationship Managers, plan and execute recruiting events in cities across Canada from September through December 2023 including tracking RSVPs, distributing pre and post follow up digital and print communications, program and event collateral.
- Develop presentations and materials that support recruiting events with cross-functional teams.
- Manage day to day logistics for donors’ meetings and events related to the Women Unlimited program including program launch and stewardship activities.
- Track and report on progress of recruitment
- Host virtual meetings platform and support onsite technology for events as needed.
- Undertake travel and attend UNICEF fundraising events (sometimes during the evenings and weekends), as required.
Project Management and Administration (40%)
- Develop and implement cross-functional project plans, workback schedules, tracking and tools to support the team’s ability to manage recruitment and program activities for Women UN limited.
- Maintain positive relationships with relationship/partnership managers and collaborative partners across teams, in order to facilitate the creation and delivery of project plans in a timely manner.
- Proactively input, monitor and prompt key engagement activities ensuring we are achieving key milestones such as invitations to events, donor communication materials, gift agreements and reporting.
- Ensure proper recording of meetings, donor interaction and recruitment activities in database.
- Support revenue and expense tracking related to program activities.
Qualifications, Competencies & Skills
- A post secondary degree, diploma or equivalent years’ work experience with a focus in events, fundraising or other related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) plus years’ related work experience, preferably with extensive event planning experience and project management skills
- Results-driven with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and multi-task, while being organized, detail-oriented, with strong follow through.
- Proven ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders at all levels and ability to coordinate complex projects across teams along with customer service skills, sound judgement and risk management.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of donor relations and experience working with external stakeholders.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills and in-depth knowledge of programs like Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge (and/or other fundraising, relational databases)
- Design experience with InDesign or related creative software (an asset)
- English/French bilingualism (an asset)
- Comfortable with occasional flexible hours to accommodate time differences, evening/ weekend events, donor support or organizational resource management.

Salary Range: $48,450 to $50,000 per year.
