“My efforts will bear fruit”
Mary Lynn Lalonde works in Geneva, Switzerland as Engagement Manager for UNICEF. As she describes it “Unbelievably, for this northern Ontario girls, I get to spend days sharing stories about UNICEF”s life-saving and life-changing work. It’s the best job in the world.”
In her role, Mary Lynn has spent days at the bedsides of children recovering from severe acute malnutrition in Mauritania, as they develop back to full health. She’s watched bright-eyed little girls and boys open their minds, along with their new UNICEF-provided schoolbooks in rural schools in Zimbabwe. She’s comforted mothers and babies in refugee camps, and accompanied health workers on massive vaccination campaigns, to hopefully bring about the end of polio in her lifetime.
As she grew a little bit older and began to think about what her gift for future generations can be, Mary Lynn decided to become a legacy supporter to UNICEF Canada.
“Some people think leaving a gift in their Will is about death and loss. For me it’s the exact opposite. It’s about how I will live on – paying forward to future generations the values that I hold dear.”
