Manager, Digital Solutions 

(12 Month Contract; Full-time; Flexible Hybrid; based in Toronto) 

Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Solutions, this role supports the organization’s strategic goals through the management of online engagement platforms. Specifically, this role manages the build and deployment of donation and advocacy forms, email campaigns, and content for the organization’s websites. The role also provides expertise and insight into the ongoing strategic development and optimization of UNICEF Canada’s online platforms.

Responsibilities include:

Managing Digital Engagement Platforms (40%)  

Manage the ongoing maintenance and deployment of online content and facilitate online engagement within UNICEF Canada’s web-based content management systems (CMS). 

  • Managing the ongoing development and deployment of online donation forms, advocacy forms, and peer-to-peer fundraising sites.
  • Managing the ongoing development and creation of content on the organization’s main web site at unicef.ca (creating new components, etc.).
  • Managing the ongoing maintenance and updating of content on the Survival Gifts symbolic giving store at shop.unicef.ca and provide expertise to enhance the supporter experience. 
  • Manage the build and deployment of broadcast emails. Responsibilities include: ensure that emails follow approved brand, design and accessibility guidelines. In partnership with stakeholders, ensure that email audiences are identified and segmented correctly, and that emails are deployed to the intended audiences. 
  • Provide support for campaigns and rapid-onset emergencies outside of regular business hours, as required. 
  • Provide training to staff as required. 
  • Perform other general web maintenance tasks as required.

Project Management and Strategy (40%)

  • Contribute to the evolution of UNICEF Canada’s online platforms: provide expertise related to the presentation of content within the guidelines and capabilities of UNICEF Canada’s content management systems and participate in the improvement of internal business processes. 
  • Establish and document new business processes pertaining to Digital Solutions Team and communicate with relevant stakeholders. 
  • Ensure online content, forms and broadcast emails adhere to UNICEF Canada’s overall strategy and requirements for data collection, performance measurement, and accessibility. 
  • Manage and co-ordinate tasks in the work queue: ensure that mutually agreed-upon deadlines and SLAs are met. 
  • Work with external vendors to support delivery of UNICEF Canada’s projects and tasks: identify issues and submit to vendor(s) for development, perform quality assurance (QA) reviews of vendor work and approve work and schedule deployment. 
  • Assess new tools as needed, document findings and provide recommendations to stakeholders. 
  • Provide expertise to stakeholders on leveraging new and existing digital tools to improve the performance of campaigns, in support of organizational priorities and strategic goals.

Measurement and Insight Reporting (10%)

  • Generate reports for stakeholder campaigns, as required. 
  • Provide expertise in the development and implementation of experiments and testing.  
  • Update Google Tag Manager configuration as required. 
  • Champion the importance of data and insight reporting for campaigns. 

People Management (10%)

  • Develop effective, motivated team to achieve common goals with clearly defined accountabilities which are aligned with overall strategy.  
  • Recruit, retain and develop an effective and motivated team to achieve common team goals.  
  • Conduct goal setting planning as well as quarterly and year end performance reviews for direct reports as established by organization processes.  
  • Provide technical training and learning support as required. 
  • Encourage, coach and foster opportunities for development and personal growth. 

The ideal candidate will have:  

  • A university degree and/or college diploma in a relevant field or equivalent years of work experience. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience with Drupal or comparable CMS as well as experience in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, jQuery. 
  • Experience with online donation and engagement platforms such as Engaging Networks. 
  • Experience building and deploying broadcast emails in Engaging Networks or other platforms. 
  • Experience conducting experiments and A/B testing. 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other image editing software. 
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills  
  • The ability to work independently, and to train and coach staff. 
  • The ability to work within the larger Business Solutions team, and cross-functionally with other internal teams, and external vendors. 
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and adhere to deadlines. 
  • French language skills (an asset).

Salary Range: $63,500 to $77,500 per year.
