Manager, One Time Gifts and Product Acquisition

(Permanent; Full time; Hybrid; based in Toronto)

The Manager, One Time Gifts and Product Acquisition will lead the acquisition strategy and provide fundraising expertise for the one-time gift portfolio and the UNICEF Canada line of products including symbolic giving and subscriptions.

With a specific focus on revenue generation through direct and digital marketing, this role is accountable for shared revenue targets in excess of $5.6 million. To achieve these goals, the Manager will work closely with the Deputy Director, Donor Acquisition to grow these programs, work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and manage external agency relationships.

The responsibilities will include:

Marketing, Revenue Generation and Project Management (50%)

  • Develop the strategy, business plans and annual budget for all aspects of the portfolio in collaboration with the Deputy Director, Donor Acquisition. Identify opportunities for testing and innovation intended to maximize campaign and program performance.
  • Manage all aspects of the symbolic giving program, Survival Gifts, as set out in the annual plan. This includes but is not limited to all print, email, digital and out of home media campaigns including multi-channel campaigns, urgent appeals in the event of an emergency that align with Survival Gifts and integration with Retention activities as applicable.
  • Re-imagine the Tribute Giving program for In Memory and In Honour donations, including opportunities to optimize and grow the program.
  • Manage the acquisition strategy and execution of the Paddington’s Postcards monthly subscription program with an emphasis on digital growth.
  • Utilize strong partnership management skills to work closely with key external vendors on campaign development and execution.
  • Explore best practices and learning from other UNICEF National Committees (NatComms) to incorporate into UNICEF Canada programs.
  • Brief internal staff on all in-market campaigns, including samples of creative materials and FAQ’s, and provide periodic updates where appropriate. 

Data Analysis, Reporting and Expense Management (35%)

  • Manage individual budget lines while collaborating on the overall Individual Giving budget, including maintaining and updating detailed monthly financial spreadsheets and forecasting.
  • Provide annual forecast and revenue and expense calendarization of activities within annual operating plan.
  • Using data from multiple sources, provide ongoing reporting and analysis for each program/activity, and take corrective action where necessary to optimize revenue/expense ratio. Use findings to drive recommendations and decision-making going forward.
  • Work with internal data team to report on file size by segment, analyze data and develop appropriate reporting tools to better understand supporters and improve overall campaign performance.

People Management (10%) 

  • Develop an effective, motivated team to achieve common goals with clearly defined accountabilities which are aligned with overall strategy.
  • Conduct goal setting planning as well as quarterly and year end performance reviews for direct report as established by organization processes. 
  • Encourage, coach and foster opportunities for development and personal growth.
  • Support employee engagement strategies as required.

  • Oversee the reconciliation of invoices as required.
  • Present weekly status updates on key areas of the programs.
  • Oversee the set up and tracking of the programs with key internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Competencies, & Skills

  • A university degree, college diploma or equivalent years’ work experience in Fundraising, Marketing or related field.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years relevant work experience in a direct marketing or fundraising role.
  • Experience managing digital programs, including donor or customer acquisition.
  • Experience managing agency partners to deliver programs.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated experience executing successful marketing campaigns with tracked ROI.
  • The ability to be results-driven and deadline oriented with the ability to follow through on timelines.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong organization skills with high attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • A solid understanding of metrics, analysis, and effective marketing best practices.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge (an asset).
  • The ability to be a self-motivated team player who believes in proactive and transparent communication, frequently collaborating with peers.
  • Experience working with bilingual programs and French language skills (an asset).
  • Knowledge of and interest in the work and mission of UNICEF Canada.

Salary: $63,500 to $77,500 per year.
