lululemon joins the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health
Physical activity and exercise, as well as feeling connected to friends and a community are among key factors to support the mental health and well-being of children and young people. As a brand rooted in community and movement, lululemon is partnering with UNICEF to support programs and initiatives for youth mental health.
To address the increasing challenge of mental health in youth, lululemon is supporting UNICEF’s Global Mental Health Fund and partnering with UNICEF by joining the UNICEF-led Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health.
The Coalition, founded by UNICEF with the support of the Z Zurich Foundation, includes Jo Malone London, Pinterest, Sony, Spotify, Zurich Insurance Company Ltd and Z Zurich Foundation. It focuses on mobilizing public and private sector investment and action to promote youth mental health.
“At lululemon, we believe everyone has the right to be well and the path to wellbeing is only possible when tools, support, and resources are accessible to all,” said Anne Wintroub, Head of Social Impact & Engagement at lululemon. “We are proud to be a part of this vital and collective effort to improve mental health outcomes for young people across the globe.”
Together with lululemon, the Coalition aims to strengthen the skills and supportive environment for the mental health of 50 million children and young people in 150 countries by 2030 through public and private sector investment and influence.
We are honoured to partner with the lululemon Centre for Social Impact to create positive change for the mental health and well-being of young people everywhere.
UNICEF does not endorse any company brand, product or service.
The importance of supporting youth mental health
Despite the growing challenge of mental health issues for children, adolescents and caregivers worldwide, there is a severe global shortage of funding and action on mental health promotion and protection.
Today, one in seven adolescents globally experiences a mental health condition, with half of all mental disorders developing before the age of 14, and 75 per cent by the mid-20s.
The global community cannot afford to ignore child, youth, and caregiver mental health. If we do not act now, we are putting future generations, economies and society at risk.
The Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health believes the private sector can help promote and foster mental health and well-being, not only within their workplaces but through their substantial consumer reach.
