Senior Coordinator, Development, National and Community Events
(12-month Contract, Hybrid Role-Full-time; based in Calgary, opportunity for contract
extension or permanent role)
Reporting to the Manager, National Events, this role will support UNICEF Canada’s fundraising activities through initiatives that deepen donor engagement, and cultivate new donors, partnerships, and fundraising opportunities. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational, communication, relationship, and project management skills. In addition, the incumbent must be detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
The responsibilities of the position will include:
Project and Relationship Management (75%)
- Engage and liaise with volunteer committees and fundraisers and build strong and positive relationships with those volunteers to strengthen engagement with UNICEF Canada.
- Lead on fundraising activities for National Events. Including sourcing of auction and raffle items, execution of fundraising initiatives, and promotion.
- Oversee all event (National, 2nd and 3rd party) event communications, materials and social media.
- Review all third-party event applications based on UNICEF Canada assessment criteria and provide regular check-ins with registered events on their progress and fundraising accomplishments.
- Provide administrative support for committee meetings.
- Research and evaluate all aspects of events and provide recommendations to appropriate staff and or committees.
- Be an active and engaged member of the Development team to ensure that donors are exposed to opportunities for meaningful engagement with UNICEF and projects and initiatives championed by other colleagues are supported.
- Act as point-person for all stakeholders, including event vendors.
Operational Management (25%)
- Provide vital administrative and operational support to the National Events to ensure they are executed at UNICEF’s best in class standard.
- Execute fundraiser donor journeys to ensure UNICEF is top of mind for continued engagement.
- Ensure relevant Raiser’s Edge database information is updated and accurate with contact information, communications preferences, event and donor activities, status of fundraisers and accurate gift history.
- Ensure event related webpages are up to date and content has had all required approvals.
- Regularly review current, or source new, technology tools to improve event planning/execution process, reduce expenses and contribute to overall positive attendee experience.
- When required, provide support to other Development activities and projects.
Qualifications, Competencies, & Skills
- Post secondary degree/ diploma with a focus in event planning, fundraising, marketing or other applicable disciplines
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience in event co-ordination
- Experience working with donors and volunteers
- Has excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to work in a challenging environment, prioritize and multi-task, while being organized, detail-oriented, with strong follow through
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Adept at leading people, teams, projects, and meetings when needed.
- An enthusiastic team player
- Experience with third party fundraising and event management tools (Engaging Networks, Giverny)
- Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle
- Must be available/ comfortable to travel; fulfill health and security protocols for travel.
- Comfortable with flexible business hours to accommodate time differences, evening/ weekend events, donor support or organizational resource management.
- French language skills an asset, but not required.
Salary Range: $45,000 to $46,500.
